Trane VAL2979 1/2X1/2 4Ton Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV)

The Trane VAL2979 is a four-ton thermal expansion valve (TXV) for larger homes and commercial air conditioners and heat pumps. This valve has brazing connections (ODF) made of strong stainless steel material used for the body of the valve. The Trane VAL2979 is 4.8 inches in length. It has a 2.8% bleed design. So, this is a small amount of refrigerant that continuously circulates through the valve, and therefore internal is not frozen, and the device remains functional. Most importantly the TXV has a 60” capillary tube that senses the temperature of the refrigerant gas coming out of the evaporator coil. This temperature data is then used to control the refrigerant flow so that the system will run at its most efficient.
