The Trane CNT3785 170F CO Auto Limit Switch is a safety device for the use of HVAC equipment in furnaces and air handlers. It’s an automated shutoff switch, which is a switch that cuts power when the temperature goes too high, it turns the power off to the system so that you don’t overheat and blow up the system. This particular limit switch operates on 120 or 240-volt AC power with a trigger temperature of 170°F. In other words, at the required temperature, a predetermined amount of time to reach temperature, the switch is held on until the temperature is complete, thus power to the machinery is cut off the switch automatically.
